Deer Run Cultural Celebrations

Thank you to Ms. Celi and Mr. Pukos!

This week we highlighted the many cultures that make up our Deer Run community. We had guest student announcers during morning and/or afternoon announcements.

We appreciate the many families that shared information about their culture through the home activity.

Mr. Pukos and Ms. Celi visited classrooms with read alouds selected for our PreK-Grade 2 students.

Thank you Ms. Hunt and our talented Deer Run Artists!

We enjoyed seeing our students' art work displayed at the High School. Walking around the East Haven High School gym you could see the many talented students from PreK to grade 12.

Dear Parent,

The United Choir School has been holding annual auditions at schools in southern Connecticut for the past twenty plus years. This year, we have the opportunity to visit Deer Run Elementary School! The visit will take place on Wednesday, June 3. All girls ages 6 and up are invited to audition, and no musical experience is necessary.

As you may know, the United Girls’ Choir and Elm City Girls’ Choir provide musical training and performance opportunities to over 200 talented young singers throughout Connecticut.

The United Girls' Choir, founded in 2000, is the school’s largest division, and is the fastest-growing youth choral group in the region. UGC currently has local chapters based in Branford, Bridgeport, New Haven and North Haven, and is in the process of establishing additional chapters in other communities throughout the state. The United Girls’ Choir has performed masterworks including Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria with professional orchestras, and has appeared at venues including New Haven’s Shubert Theatre and Yale University’s Battell Chapel.

The Elm City Girls' Choir, the School's most rigorous performance ensemble, has received national recognition, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Walt Disney World, and on CBS Television. Since its founding in 1993, ECGC has performed with many respected choral groups, such as the New York Virtuoso Singers, CONCORA and The Yale Glee Club, and with professional orchestras including the Boston Philharmonic, New Haven Symphony, Yale Symphony, and Moscow State Orchestra. In addition, ECGC has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

If you are interested in learning more about our program or have any questions, please do not hesitate to visit www.unitedgirlschoir.com/auditions.

Thank you for your time; we are excited to make music with your daughter at her audition!

Yours sincerely,
